ABOUT BLACK PANTHER

I have never talked about race in any form of light
The race has never bothered me because being raised African and Nigerian, you're basically at the back of the line on the war of race
Finally i have seen black panther
But
The movie goes beyond black people being extra
It is definitely not a reminder to those who have forgotten they are black
It is a way out of needing a movie to show or a doll to show how black you are
It is not just supporting our own
When your daughter bleaches and perms her hair because someone told her kinks and curls are ugly, she doesn't do it to show her blackness
When your son makes after school plans and gets gunned down for being a suspect, it doesn't show how black you are

Black people have never stepped out like this since they had heroes who were not yet shut up by bullets or prison
It is relieving to be represented by someone the government was not making policies to silence
It is relieving to see our men out of cuffs and defense

It is relieving that for once the narratives changed
It is relieving that black people don't have to be invited to a limited seating premier

Wakkanda doesn't have to b real for us to believe enough in it, it just has to be incorrigible true enough for us to hold hands together and understand that this is enough for us.
For once Black means a 'superhero'

If Wakkanda is the tales of the mother's being raped on beds they still had to sleep on, spoke of with hope,
We are going to have it
We are going to walk into cinemas with Ankara

We are going to sing songs and make chants about it
We are going to hold hands and cross them in solidarity
This is the beginning of one forever we worked hard for
RACISM IS EVIL
