Pahela Baishakh: Mobile court on patrol with RAB, helicopter to hover over capital

The RAB director general has said his force along with other law-enforcing agencies will ensure foolproof security for smooth celebrations of the Pahela Baishakh or the Bangla New Year.

This is for the first time the mobile court will be patrolling with the RAB team on the streets and in different celebration spots to check [harassment of women] and other criminal activities,” Benazir Ahmed told reporters on Friday at the Ramna Batamul.

Also, a RAB helicopter would hover over the city looking for any suspicious movements. The elite police unit have set up a control room in Hatirjheel.

“We have taken stringent measures to prevent any possible unpleasant incident,” he added.

Benazir said RAB control room, outer perimeter patrol, motorcycle patrol, foot patrol, observation post and check post would be set up and kept on alert during the celebrations.

Also, bomb disposal team, dog squad and medical team would also be ready while all the open but sensitive venues would be under CCTV coverage, he said.

Earlier on Thursday, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police briefed the media over stringent measures taken on the occasion of New Year celebrations.
