Coffee Time Meditation #41 -- Strength & Indomitable Will

in #quotes7 years ago

“Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.” — Mohandas Gandhi

Thoughts on Today’s Quote

When we think of strength, we most often think of it as physical capacity to move or crush objects. Physical capacity has its value and uses. It is what has built much of the world as we know it today.

What else has built the world is indomitable will which can come from anyone. From the tower muscle bound guy to the smallest of people confined to a wheelchair the strength that comes from an indomitable will moves more mountains than the men with pickaxes could ever imagine.

That indomitable will comes from inside ourself. It is an unflinching belief and determination to make something happen. Those who came to the shores of the new world had to bring with them an indomitable will to survive and thrive. That was the strength that built countries, the physical strength facilitated the will the drove it.

We look up to heroes who overcome adversity. The strength to overcome adversity comes from within. Their own unflinching drive to get to the goal they have set themselves. To adapt and overcome any physical challenges put in their way in their drive to reach their prize.

Steven Hawking is an example of indomitable will. Illness ravaged his body and attacked his ability to communicate normally but he found ways to get that intellect out into the world, to share his knowledge and ideas.

How many people do we know around us who overcome adversity to be contributors to our lives and our communities? We all have that ability to call on that will, to strengthen our backbone and move us to stand tall against adversity.

The only question is, will you?

About Coffee Time Meditation

So, think of someone, like me, sitting quietly with the first fresh coffee of the day and mediating about the words of the quote. That would be me, or it could be you.

Willpower and the Human Spirit amaze me and some Steemians are battling things most do not have a clue of and keep on going. kudos

yes there are many Steemians overcoming incredible odds to participate on here and to just get through life. Most times they don't even tell us about it until one day they post something and I go WOW didn't know.

Thank you, I've been loving this series and your thoughts of the day. This one inspires me to give more attention to the roles I've set for myself and goals I aim to achieve. Steem on! :)

Indomitable will i must learn how to grow that, good post by the way, you have a new follower !

Gandhi was a brilliant mind and many of his teachings would serve us well. Indomitable will is something, like you say, we can all tap in to. It's just a matter of wanting it bad enough.
