This quote belongs to my favorite book written by J. R. R. Tolkien. The first book of the trilogy "The Lord of the Rings", in my opinion, is a praise to friendship. It's fresh, heartfelt and profound. It goes from the Hobbits' joyful naivety to the timeless presence of Tom Bombadil and Goldenberry.

With this quote we are at Lothlorien and Haldir is speaking to Merry after binding the eyes of the travelers with cloths. The world is getting darker and darker but still, there are some sacred places, inside and outside, which is worth defending.
