Truths.

“Man is always prey to his truths. Once he has admitted them, he cannot free himself from them.”

 Albert Camus.

From Wikipedia:

"Albert Camus, (7 November 1913 – 4 January 1960) was a French philosopher, author, and journalist. His views contributed to the rise of the philosophy known as absurdism. He wrote in his essay The Rebel that his whole life was devoted to opposing the philosophy of nihilism while still delving deeply into individual freedom. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature at the age of 44 in 1957, the second youngest recipient in history."

I remember reading The Plague in college. I still have it somewhere in my book collection. I always figured him as an existentialist rather than an aburdist, but certainly he was no nihilist. I always figured existentialism and absurdism were superior philosophies to nihilism. Nihilism is akin to postmodernism in the sense that it single mindedledy and falsely states that nothing is true and that no morality exists so just do whatever you want, even if it is immoral, like murdering or torturing somebody. Absurdism, however, seeks to point out the flaws and inconsistencies in various aspects of life and belief systems but, unlike nihilism, its end conclusion is to piece together a clearer truth from dissembling the lies and seeing what lies beneath. In that sense, it is a similar to the modern day philosophy of post irony, which takes modern day postmodern nihilism and breaks it apart from the opposite angle of nihilism, dissecting the meaningless lies of postmodern propaganda to reveal the truth hidden beneath. Like Million Dollar Extreme for example. Whereas say, The Eric Andre Show, is more one dimensional in that it simply seems geared at breaking apart all forms and reducing everything to nihilist bullshit. Anyway, good post. Liked and reminded.
