Don't smoke eat Apples

Hi steemers,

I have been struggling for some years trying to quit smoking, but every time I tried I didn't take it very serious by always leaving a hook, like well I am gonna quit it by reducing the cigarettes until I don't smoke anymore, or I am gonna smoke only on the night outs but It always brought me back to the bad habit of smoking.

This time I realized that when you really wanna quit smoking you have to leave no hooks. So I decided to quit smoking by filling the desire to the maximum for one last time, I bought a pack of cigarettes and enjoyed every single one of them to the maximum, with the intention that my last one, will be the last one forever. No more quiting by reducing them, or smoking when I go out for drinks. Just stopping forever.

Because the body is used to get the nicotine from outside it is only natural that for 1-2 weeks you will have a great urge to smoke all the time, especially after food. But to avoid this urge apples will be your best friends during the process.

So by doing my research I run on an article written by Mary Jane Thomas called Quit Smoking by Eating Apples that I am sharing with you guys now.


The effect of the paradisiacal fruit on the heavy smokers, whose health is, anyway, endangered, positively occurs on two levels: apples increase the oxygen in the body, and, on the other hand, a diet of apples may fight the nicotine addiction.

How does nicotine affect the body?

We all know that it is very difficult for smokers to quit smoking, though no one has to explain how harmful the smoking is. People learn in school about the severity of the consequences caused by tobacco: tobacco cough, lung cancer, diseases of the stomach, heart, etc. However, the effects felt as “positive” are stronger, because nicotine calms the emotions and refreshes in case of fatigue and low mood.

While exercising, the smokers breath is cut faster than for the non-smokers. This sad reality, but rarely brought into consideration, is due to carbon monoxide, which is a component of the cigarette smoke. It goes in the blood through the pulmonary alveoli. Inside the red blood cells, the carbon monoxide binds with hemoglobin, 300 times stronger than the oxygen does. This way, the hemoglobin, which is responsible for transporting oxygen, is prevented from doing its job. During exercising, the body, including the brain, receives too little oxygen. The result: fatigue, headache and nausea.

More oxygen, with apples’ help

Apples can contribute to a better oxygen supply, through their component chemicals, one of them being vitamin C, which allows the absorption of iron by the intestine. Unfortunately, smokers do not usually eat apples because they dislike them. Why? Due to smoking, their stomach mucosa probably contains nicotine. The nicotine is activated by fructose apple, so the smokers have a fairly unpleasant sensation.

This effect can be used when someone wants to quit smoking. This method has a fairly good chance of success, if the person in question is determined to quit smoking.

Apples instead of cigarettes

Smokers who eat only apples for 2-3 days, should expect some digestive problems (for the reasons set forth above), because in this phase, apples clean the intestine from toxins present in it.

Afterwards, however, most smokers go through an opposite experience. Surprisingly, they no longer like the cigarette taste, because the nicotine is now felt as an annoying irritant. Of course, in those three days, they should not smoke at all, or smoke very little.

Balancing vitamins

Nicotine acts on many vitamins as a “killer”, that’s why the smokers suffer from an alarming deficiency of vitamins. Particularly drastic is the negative effect of vitamin C. Each cigarette is “stealing” up to 30 grams of vitamin C. The needed amount of vitamin C per day is difficult to achieve, in smokers. But the apples are really helping.

as weird as it sounds., i used plastic retainer rings of bottle lids to chew on and it helped me stop. all though it dosnt look appealing but it did help
