What are the qualities of a true friendship?
1) A true friend doesn't make false promises and constantly tell lies to deceive you.
2) A true friend doesn't reach out to you, only when he or she wants something from you. A true friend will share the little that they have, and will contact you just to see how you are doing. A true friend doesn't stop contacting you for long periods of time, especially when they have the means and time to socialize. If you are connected to them through social media, and you see they are constantly posting and messages, they obviously can contact you, just to say hello. A true friend will contact you to share good news, and not only their misfortunes.
3) A true friend acknowledges and supports positive efforts, does not degrade you or encourage negative behavior, and does not make fun of unfortunate circumstances.
4) A true friend does not apply negative peer pressure, and does not harass you if you are not willing to do things like, steal, smoke, drink, or have sex.
5) A true friend will support you, and not distract you from reaching important and positive goals.
6) A true friend will suggest things to you, but will never denounce you for how you look, what you wear, and what you do, as long as it is positive. If you are involved in negative activities, a true friend will tell you those activities are dangerous, and will encourage you to stop.
7) A true friend is someone who is sometimes willing to do things with you that you like to do, and does not only accept or hang out with you, only when you do the things that they want to do. Of course, if you are doing something negative, a good friend should not want to participate in negative activities with you.
8) A true friend feels joy when you feel joy, and feels sadness when you feel sadness.
9) A true friend is not someone you go to only to share all your negative baggage and problems. It's tormenting when a person only wants to be around you to share negative and bad news. At some point, you get tired of being around them.
10) True friends help each other solve problems. They do not constantly create new problems and burdens for one another.
