Give Toast ! Art of Public Speaking
If you have a pulse , you'll probably experience nervousness when you're speaking in front of large groups.
My point is eveyone experiences some kind of mental or physical outcomes from public speaking .
Both seasoned speakers and beginners experience some of the same mental barriers in public speaking .
- new and unknown situations
- risk of Failure
- potential for appearing foolish
- boring to the audience
physcial anxiety symptoms are equally experienced by both seasoned speakers and beginners.
- increased heart rate
- butterflies
- uncontrollable shakes
- lightheadness
- dizziness
The difference between experienced and green eared Speakers is that experienced speakers know how to harness that energy !
They've learned how to turn the negative energy into positive energy by managing their mental and physical anxiety .
Want to give a badass speech ? Here's what you need to do .
- Practice and know your content inside and out.
- use visualizations . Visual how you want your speech to go .
- Relax your body doing isometric exercise and breathing techniques .
Before you give your next big sales pitch or give a speech to change the worlds view on the next social issue, remember , we all experience the same mental and physcial anxiety triggers and symptoms .
We can also learn how to manage those triggers and turn our negative energy into positive energy . You must know your content , train your brain with visuals , physically relax , and remember ; always appear confident .
This was a great read! It really goes hand-in-hand with stage fright/performance anxiety in theatre, which I'll be covering in my blog in the near future.
