"Doctors at the specialized hospital in Amman have performed a coronary artery bypass surgery, described by Al-Ghad newspaper as "the first of its kind in the country and the region."

The operation was conducted by Dr. Abdul Hakim Deh, Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at a 51-year-old patient who had a blockage of the arteries.

The operation was performed with the help of the endoscopy and a small wound on the left side of the chest without the need to cut the thorax as is usual in open heart surgery. All coronary arteries were implanted to the patient's heart with the help of the internal thoracic artery and the thoracic vein.

Dr. Abdul Hakim Deh said that this process is an alternative to the open heart surgery known as the traditional form, and that one of the most important features of this process is limited overlap, the speed of recovery and return to normal life, in addition to reducing the length of stay in hospital, not to mention cosmetic where it is in a way that hides a place Wound in the future.

"It is a continuation of the series of achievements in the field of laparoscopic cardiothoracic surgery. Most coronary and aortic valve operations are now performed in the laparoscopic specialty hospital."

Last November, UAE media reported the success of Dubai hospital doctors in conducting the first Middle East surgical procedure for coronary angiography, in collaboration with a medical team from Belgium.
