Mechanics Of The Mind: Memories, Mandela Effect and Social Experiments + Cool Tricks

in #psychology6 years ago

Memories can be wonderful or it could give you some PTSD. Memories are an important part of the functioning of the society. But just like the money that we use everyday, the memories aren't much of a simple topic. Te subject can reach some great depths as it is our reference to "Reality". Without the memories of the "Real" how do you think the life would be like? But wait; life itself is a part of reality.

The Mandela Effect

The Mandela Effect is an Internet phenomenon revolving around the idea that false memory's are the result of changes to past events in the timeline. The term was coined in 2010 by Fiona Broome to describe the common false memory of Nelson Mandela dying in the 1980s. The most common explanation of the Mandela effect by believers is that the changes are the result of switching between different universes.

If you are not mind blown, I'll have to assume that you already knew about this at least to some extent. But somethings can be less than supernatural or grand. I'm not saying conspiracies doesn't exist and I do believe history can be re-written with enough effort and then there are the possibilities reveled through the advent of Quantum mechanics. But most of the things can come down to a simple and powerful thing called the mind. Our minds can be powerful and our control can very well be not so tight. I mean how much of a control do you have on your mind. Here is bit of a game for you:

You Can Use It For Some Tricks Too

Perspectives can change a lot of things. Just as in life, entrepreneurship, innovation and computers, we can find loopholes in the mind. Some times it's all in the individual's head. The reality can be much simpler and clever and more elegant.

After it is explained, it becomes pretty simple. But if you spent some time thinking how it was achieved, things might not have looked so easy. Also don't forget that all these tricks were invented by a mind. It was another mind that found loopholes in a mind. We could have been creating a great deal of false memories as the time goes by. Perceptions can end up taking over the reality and facts. People could be remembering things wrong and then discover than their memories differ from reality.

Few Social experiments

There have been many similar social experiments done all over the time, all over the planet to get fairly similar results. I just picked some recent ones. Whn there is a lack of sufficient information or when they haven'bothered to collect sufficient information, the mind starts filling the blanks instead of admitting defeat and not knowing.

Cool! Right? Here Is More:

Now Here Is Even More

It's pretty much the same thing; just not very cool.

“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.”
“There is only one good, knowledge, and one evil, ignorance.”
“I cannot teach anybody anything. I can only make them think”
“To find yourself, think for yourself.”
-Socrates

Socrates didn't write anything down. But other people's accounts of his teachings have survived. There sin't much we can do to fully verify the collective memories of our history and civilizations. But one thing for sure is that we can ponder on these quotes and think for ourselves and gain wisdom. i think that is very important.

Whether right or wrong; memories belong to the past. Its use is the wisdom and insight we can gain from them so that we can build a future. A future is built with thought and one day that future will leave a memory. It may or may not be n accurate memory. But that's just something for those of the future who'd be looking into the past.
