My Writing Sucks [KOCPU #7]

My Writing Sucks

My writing sucks. Always.

I’m never going to get good enough.

Nobody will ever want to read my books.

Not even if I give them away for free.

Never. Ever.

Sindore

You know what? Those are limiting beliefs.

Beliefs, because there are no proof that shows that your writing sucks.

And go and prove it to me that you’ll never improve. And that you’ll never sell a book.

You can’t, because those are beliefs, like in religion.

They are limiting, because they do you no good.

Sindore

You won’t improve, because you believe that you cannot get better anyway, so why try?

You won’t even write a book, because you believe that you won’t sell it and nobody will ever want to read it. So why bother?

That’s how those beliefs limit you.

They hinder you from growing.

Sindore

It’s not possible to write everything about limiting beliefs in a short blog post. You’ll need books for that.

But I can give you tips to overcome the worst of your limiting beliefs:

Ever? Never? Always?

When you think in the absolute, like the above words, it’s a good pointer to show you that you’re being a victim of limiting beliefs.

Who says it will never be like that?

What proof do you have that it will always stay like that?

Challenge your thoughts.

Sindore

Every time you think that something will “always”, “ever” or “never” be like something, challenge yourself. Where’s the proof?

Can you come up with proof that shows that you’ll never become a better writer?

Prove it that you’re the worst writer in the whole world. Nobody, nobody at all, is worse than you?

And once you figure out that you cannot prove those outrageous statements you use to limit yourself with, go ahead and do something to grow, to change things, and to outlimit your beliefs.

Is that a word? Outlimit? I don’t even know. Do it anyway :D

And then write that book.

Make yourself proud.

I like the term "outlimit." If it wasn't a word it is now! You set out to write a blog and ended up creating a new word. It truly demonstrates why you should just go for it. Who knows what will happen.
