Dealing with depression can be tough, especially as no one else really seems to understand it.
It can be really tough dealing with depression, wanting to hide away from the rest of the world one minute and the next feeling fairly ok... or not...
You may feel ok connecting with the world through your computer, but not to step out your front door.
Just like having a broken leg it can be debilitating, yet no one can see that you have a broken feeling that causes the depression, so people simply don't understand.
I feel your pain, your hurt and your struggle.
How do you get through life, wanting to do something with your life, struggling to get up in the morning, not wanting to go to sleep at night because you don't want to wake up the next day?
Yet all the time thinking that you are broken.
Let me tell you... YOU ARE NOT BROKEN!
You are a beautiful being full of love, full of laughter and very sensitive to all that is going on around you.
This sensitivity – it is a gift and a curse.
You are one of the 25% of people who are highly sensitive that have to deal with anxiety, depression and many other mental health issues. (Go to http://hsperson.com to learn more.)
So how do you deal with this beautiful curse?
You love it.
And... most people will stop reading at this point.
Bare with me, this may just change your life.
Most people who have depression don't want it. They don't want to feel the deep depths of despair that engulf us. They just want it to go away. They just want to feel normal.
Yet the ones that move through depression and get over it, like I have done and you can too are the ones that don't resist the feelings. They say BRING IT ON!!!
Depression won't kill you. It will feel like it can but it won't. Suicide will, but that is an action different from depression.
Have you ever heard the saying, "And this too shall pass."?
Well, this can be the case for depression if you allow yourself to feel it.
Take some time out (and sometimes you may need the help of a facilitator or counsellor) and sit with the depression.
Talk to it, ask it what it needs.
Imagine it is in front of you and imagine it is a small child that you would like to help.
And give that small child kindness, respect and love.
Listen to it and let it know that what it is saying is acknowledged and heard.
Let that small child know that it is safe and that you will keep it protected and cared for.
Be with it, hold its hand, hug it.
You may not feel or hear anything to begin with. That's ok. This process is yours and it is perfect for you.
Keep at it, because this beautiful small child is you.
It is the depression personified as you and you have the ability to give you as a small child the love that it doesn't feel.
You are amazing. You are upvoting people's content and changing their lives. You are contributing to people you don't even know and they appreciate you for it.
You are loved, now it is time for you to love your depression.
It is waiting for you...

So synchronistic. Beautiful, thank you for sharing.
My pleasure.
Very encouraging. Thank you. The bright side is that when you have defeated depression, you become stronger and you get a better perception of life and the things and people around you. I have been depressed so many times but I cannot just give in. Too many at stake -- family and loved ones, career to mention a few. I just have to fight and face it head on. And yes, I have always reassured myself that, "this too will pass away". And it did.
Would love to see more of your posts. I'm FOLLOWing you and here's why:
