This is really cool. It reminds me of a Buddhist analogy of pouring tea into a cup until it overflows. In order to learn anything new we must first empty our cup. You do an excellent job explaining this concept. I really like the bowl analogy. Excellent post

I always thought that was a Bruce Lee quote. :) I couldn't find the one I thought I remembered that was exactly as you state it, but I found this one:

"Emptiness the starting point. — In order to taste my cup of water you must first empty your cup. My friend, drop all your preconceived and fixed ideas and be neutral. Do you know why this cup is useful? Because it is empty."
