Why Steemit is revolutionary ? Not because of money, open source, crypto. No. The most appreciated scientist in Positive Psychology explains it. - part I

in #psychology9 years ago (edited)

The post is split in 2 sections:

A) Why am I failing here ?
B) Why Steemit is revolutionary (the real reason, explained by the most appreciated scientist in positive psychology in U.S.)

You'll understand in the end why I chose these 2 sections.

Yes, the money are a good incentive and are part of the answer. But not so much.
Yes, a open source platform based on crypto-currency is unheard, unbelievable, but hey, that's all ?

Section 1: Why am I failing at this ?

I'll be short because nobody gives a dime on this subject except me. Actually it's fair to be like this.

First of all: there's nothing wrong with failure. Failure is more important than success because:

  • Is more present in life than success. That's why we should learn to deal with it even from the start. Not to be afraid and hide it. It's normal. It's statistics, baby.
  • Any negative emotion it feels deeper than any positive emotion. It's science, don't believe me. Google it. So failure feels much more bad than a success. We already know the success is temporary. We feel it. Sooner or later the success will fall into the dirt (yeah, temporary).
  • Success doesn't do anything major to us. It just feels good. We are great, we are better than others, we maybe are invincible ? Yeah, only happy happy joy joy. Nothing more.
We don't learn anything. You know nothing, John Snow.
Failure doesn't do silly things to us. Failure is not superficial. It feels like a serious thing and is serious to us. What's interesting ? It builds us. Really does. From failure to failure we will learn to get up every time, to learn from our mistakes, to auto motivate ourselves, to understand reality, to understand statistics, to build relations with others based on empathy and mutual help. Don't laugh. It's not an easy thing to do. Despair is around the corner from time to time. Falling is inevitable.

So, as a small conclusion: failure occurs much more than success. It feels very bad each time. And it builds us as humans that thrive. Resiliency is the word. The word that made the human race exist in our days. In spite of every stupid or bad event.

Damn. Too much words.
That's why I'll give up all my normal explanations for my failure, all my motives. I'm referring to the external ones. You ready know that everybody is responsible for my failures, not me. {sad joke}.

Section 2: Why steemit is revolutionary ? The hidden answer.

First of all let's eliminate all other explanations:

  • money, man, money. Are you sick or something ? Money is everything. No, it's not.
  • It's open source. You know the difference between the complexity of Linux and Windows ? And stability ? And performance ? Don't get me started....
  • Crypto-currency. That's outside the Matrix, Neo, outside the system. Do you really understand the magnitude of this step ? Just take a cold beer and think about it a while.
  • It's build on an amazing design (borrowed). There are some words that describe succinctly this: votes, the power of vote (influence), reputation.

Ok, you're bored, right ? That's nothing new.

You're right, but we have a problem. What's next is from psychology and not from an ordinary area of psychology. It's from the most appreciated scientist in the positive psychology in U.S. And there are a lot of words to follow (his theory). I already did this analysis and it will take some time to put it in an easy to understand essay.
So, a lot to write. If I'll add here nobody will have the patience to read it. Not even me {strange joke}.
Sorry, guys. I'm not trying to be slick or something. It's common sense and human behavior: we get bored quickly.

Till next time.
