Today is the Day of Psychology in Spain, my country. And for that reason I dedicate a post to my beloved vocation. ❤

Why on a February 24?

The day of Psychology in Spain is commemorated in honor of our patron of Psychology: Juan Huarte de San Juan.
The universities, as well as the associations and official schools agreed on this date, and since then, different conferences and activities are held during this week.

Juan Huarte de San Juan (1529 - 1888) was a Spanish physician and philosopher, whose most recognized work was the Ingenuity Exam for the Sciences
It was harshly criticized and forbidden by the Inquisition to offer an alternative vision of the soul of man.
This work allows to analyze the different temperaments of humans from an Aristotelian-Thomistic perspective, which allows to demonstrate that there is a connection between psychic and biological phenomens.

The Conference of Deans of the Faculties of Psychology decided, in 1983, to name Juan Huarte de San Juan the patron of Psychology in Spain. In addition, coinciding that his work was published and distributed in the last days of the month of February of 1575, it was proposed on February 24 as a holiday for the Psychology Faculties.

Every year there's a day that is a day of psychology proposed by the United Nations, and in this day there are some conferences and activities aimed at people who are dedicated to this profession. This year is on April, 12.
