HOW TO WIN FRIENDS & INFLUENCE PEOPLE. (1 minute book summary)

Here is my ONE MINUTE SUMMARY of the world-famous book:

  • Smile when you meet people.
  • Don’t talk too much about yourself. Talk about the other person instead. Allow for them to talk about themselves.
  • If you want people to say ‘yes’ and agree with you, then ask them many smaller questions which have ‘yes’ answers. It will make them feel more comfortable saying ‘yes’ to a bigger question.

SMILE:
We all feel naturally happy when we see a baby laughing or when animals show signs of happiness.
In the same way, you can make people ‘light up’ if you are naturally smiling when you meet them (or while you are shaking their hand) .
Learn about your body-language, because it can make people feel comfortable or uncomfortable being around you.
If they are happy from your smile, then it ends up making you happier too, thus elevating the atmosphere and rapport between you both.

TALK ABOUT THE OTHER PERSON:
Everybody’s favourite subject is themselves !
People that show an interest in your life make you feel important and special.
We get excited when someone is interested in our life.
When you listen to someone, give them your full attention and don’t interrupt.
Ask questions and listen.
People will immediately like you and talk favourably of you for doing so.
Before meeting someone, find out about the interests of that person, so then you can talk about these subjects.

LOTS OF SMALL “Yeses” leads to a BIG “YES”:
If you want someone to agree with you, then make it clear to them that you have the SAME GOALS, SAME VISIONS, etc.
Talk about the interests that you both share.
You should let them know (through your conversation) that you are both on the same side and that you want what is best for them.

Ask them smaller questions that they can answer with a “YES”.
Your conversation should be a journey of small “Yesses”. Leading up to the big “Yes”.
Psychological tests have proved that the probability of a positive result gets higher and higher with every “Yes” that you achieve. So aim to get many small "yesses" before attempting to get the big "yes".
People are less likely to break a long line of “yesses”.
