HAPPY NEW YEAR - 2018 is ours...

Happy New Year Steemians...

As I look forward to 2018 I am reminded that, "what ever is old is new again". In my case, I hope it's the truth. A few days ago my sister sent me a picture of myself from my 21st birthday. Bright eyed, staring straight down the barrel of the camera looking into the future fearlessly. It left me wondering, could the same still be true today? Would I be able to look at the camera unflinching and meet 2018 head on?

So many things have happened since that photo was taken. There was no way at 21 I would have been able to foresee the path my life would follow. Experiences both good and bad that I would be equally thankful for. That my heart would burst with happiness as many times as it would break. That I would cherish my friends, and loved ones with the same abandon I did as a child and that life would then force my hand to release a few that hurt me.

I guess that’s the rub about life and time passing. We humans find our best selves in the “gray” area of existence. When we are called to dig deep, even though we are frightened to change and grow… that we can let someone leave who we are convinced we can never live without, we can take responsibility and apologize even though we feel we might not be wrong and that no matter how shattered we feel, if we are open to it, we will live and love again.

So my dear Steemians, on this very first day of 2018, my wish for you is that you are “open” to life’s ride and enjoy every moment of the New Year. It won’t always be easy but it will be ours.

Let’s meet 2018 unflinching and head on, together.
