It’s okay to possess wealth but it's not okay for you to be possessed by it. When your wealth has complete power over you instead you wielding power over it, then you are enslaved by it.

Wealth is a good thing so long as it`s a slave and not a master. If you are enslaved by wealth, you do anything at all just to have it, or to keep it or to expand it. Whether it's by means of cheating, lying, killing or corruption, it doesn't matter. If this describes you, your wealth is not wealth; it's a shackle. Are you enslaved by your wealth? If you are, then poor you!! True wealth consists not in having many possessions, but in having nothing possessing you! And like another African proverb rightly put it, "to be poor and free is better than to be a rich slave". That is to say, it is better to have self-control and not be rich than to be rich and not have self-control. But if you can have both, go ahead.

There is nothing shameful about being rich, after all, if you have money you can help the poor . The crucial thing is to have control of it. And to a large extent the control money has is linked to the our emotion. "If you cannot control your emotions, you cannot control your money" (Warren Buffet) .
