Today, We Promoted Steemit To 1,000s on YouTube!
Lately, we've been asking our YouTube subscribers to vote on which video we should do next. We give them a few options from which they get to decide our next video. In the latest vote, How we make money while in Mexico was the winner.
Our latest YouTube videos have been getting at least a few thousand views in the first couple of days, so this was a perfect opportunity to promote Steem/it to 1,000s of non-Steemians who are already curious about how we're making money while traveling.
We know we could have done better to explain what Steem/it is, but this is the first of many times that we'll really be pushing the awesomeness of Steem to our audience. Baby steps, right? We'll be learning from our mistakes and trying to improve our message and delivery with each video.
Yes, we didn't cover some very important things about Steem/it and we deserve that rebuke. We purposefully kept our explanation as simple as possible, so we just referred to everything as "Steemit" without getting into the differences between Steem, the network, and Steemit, the privately-owned website.
A lot of our latest videos are starting to go viral-ish on YouTube. If you want YouTube to rank this video really high and get 1,000s more views on YouTube, there are a few things you can do:
- Watch the video from beginning to end
- Like the video and leave a comment on YouTube
- Subscribe to our channel while/after watching the video
- Share the video on social media
These are all metrics that YouTube looks at when deciding how high to rank a video. So if you can do all of these things, it will be more likely to go viral and expose thousands more to the wonders of Steem. The worst thing you can do to affect the performance of this (or any) YouTube video is to watch a few seconds of the video and immediately click out of it.

We use this action cam to shoot our videos.

Thanks for the big vote on this. It's very much appreciated!
I have been promoting it to my family members but they never listen to me 😂
Great work! Love following your journeys in Mexico and also inspiring as we hope to do the same one day relying on crypto. Keep traveling and posting! Cheers guys! @bitcoinkev aka lumpialife.
ggggoooooodddddddd
have a wonderfull trip.... I hate Facebook now and I spend all the facebook time on steemit now!!
amazing @tangerinetravels , have you listened to the promo-steem and @steem-ambassador projects? we need people like you in Mexico, how do you think @cryptocurator
We're not familiar with the @steem-ambassador project. What's that?
Hey guys - I'd love to tell you more. Are you on discord? Here is some background information: https://promo-steem.com/ for now though.
You can find me on Discord at shenanigator#6580. I'm only in select servers though, so you may have to give me an invite link to a server that you're in.
Cool - I will find you this weekend if not before...!
You were right! - please see an invite link here!: https://discord.gg/z5NVJg
We'd love to talk to anybody about promo-steem and the @steem-ambassador programme. Yes Maddie and Jordan are passionate promoters of the platform and @tangerinetravels is ace!
Cool, well we aren't familiar with it. But we're working hard to grow our YouTube channel and are getting at least a few 1000 views on all of our latest videos.
We want to use the platform to promote Steem as we grow larger.
One of the things this platform really needs now. More users and adopters, and with the right mindset too. Thanks for taking out this time to share.
Completely agree! One of our goals with @tangerinetravels is to bring 1000s of new users here.
You don't have to make it all about Steemit because you didn't prepare for it and also you would havs drifted from the main tone of the video. Also, you already told them to ask their questions in the comment section below and that is really helpful and willing. Don't beat yourself too much on that.
I love what you told everyone, which is, they shouldn't expect too much when they start out on Steemit. They shouldn't even start with high expectations. Showing them Maddie's posts two years ago will affirm that.
Well done guys. This video only affirms the huge sacrifice and amplifies your huge heart of kindness. You are RARE!!! Love you both.
very true bro @olawalium, success is progressive and should be taken step by step and the results will sure show up over time.
Perfecto!. Thanks a lot brother.
We wanted to show people what's possible without them getting ideas in their head that they're going to come on here and make a bunch of money immediately. Just about anyone who has ever started blogging on Steem knows it doesn't happen like that. Like most things that are worthwhile, it takes a lot of effort before you really start to see results.
Exactly. No one had it easy while starting out and with that in mind, they will reduce their expectations and frustrations wouldn't kick in too early for them. I like that.
Our hope is to get people to sign up and start following us. Then they start to realize they can earn a few cents with each comment they leave. Suddenly, a light bulb clicks and they start thinking "Why the heck am I spending all day on these other social media platforms that aren't paying me anything when I could be on here earning cash?"
That is so smarrrrrttttt!. I love that idea.
actually @tangerinetravels very good to make them understand that aspect of the fact that money will not suddenly start rolling in. i can really testify to that. but thank God for people like @olawalium who is always there to answer my every questions and to @tojukaka who introduced me to steemit and to @phait who thought me some basics and to you who is making efforts to empower everyone and anyone who cares to join and give some value and earn some value likewise.
The best advice I can give to newbies is to post some good content on their blog but spend the vast majority of time reading, commenting on posts, and building relationships with other Steemians. You'll get followers, you'll earn some money on comments, and you'll get some votes on your own blogs. As you build those followers over time, your blogs should start earning more.
Nice advice.
It hasnt been really easy as I thought, I have created gOod content most times without getting even a single UPVOTE. At times you almost feel like giving up but I will never give up because " Winners never quite"
infact am even stronger, promoting steemit in my schoOl, environment and also planning of organizing steemit submit soon.
Let's try to support one another.

Exactly, they were honest enough to tell them, so that frustration wouldn't kick in and they won't give up easily. @tangerinetravels are one of a kind.
I am glad i could be of help, brother. I was helped by @kingsolo too, it is normal to help as we have been helped too. Thanks a lot brother.
I've seen that happen too many times. In fact, more often than not.
Haha! I like the title of the video "Making money while traveling in Mexico". It sounds like it's very easy for those who don't know steemit.
We almost always have to choose between a catchy, clickable title and choosing a title with low competition and high search volume. Thankfully, this time we were able to do both. Our full title was Making Money While Traveling in Mexico - Earning Money Online
"Making money while traveling" and "Earning money online" were both really good keywords to go for. Thankfully, they fit well with the video topic.
truefact.
of which is not, mostly for newbies like me
lolz
It's your first video promoting steemit, so I will say it's a great video. You did well by making a video about steemit to show over 1000 of your followers.
This is a great promotion. You deserve an accolade
Promoting this awesome platform is one of the reasons why we want to grow our YouTube channel. No accolades necessary, but thank you for your very kind comment :)
This is beautiful
Since your YouTube fanbase has grown that much, then promoting Steemit was a very great step...
This is a good move...
Cheers
i cant agree less @julietisrael. having such a fan base is an excellent avenue to promote steemit tio a diverse audience.
We love Steem/it and want to see it become huge. So YouTube offers us a great platform to promote Steem to a lot of people.
Hello Steemit community! I am living proof that Maddie and Jordan are doing a fantastic job! I just joined Steemit after watching this video on their YouTube channel. Before that, I didn't even know it existed. Pretty neat idea. Still need to learn a lot about how it works though. Saludos a @tangerinetravels !!
Awesome, glad to have you here! Now we can actually reward you a little bit each time you leave a comment :)
