Remittance report of Bangladesh
In the last 10 years, the country has increased 4 to 4 times the remittance. Which is a milestone in the development of Bangladesh to a developed country.
According to Bangladesh Bank sources, expatriate Bangladeshis sent 9.7 billion US dollars between 2008 and 2017. Which was approximately 7 thousand 700 billion US dollars more than the previous 10 years. Non-Resident Bangladeshis (Non-Resident Bangladesh-NRB) sent approximately $ 2 billion from 1998 to 2007.
Bangladesh Bank deputy governor Abu Hena Mohammad Raji Hasan told reporters that the flow of remittance has increased in the last few years due to various steps taken by the government and central bank. Besides, the number of Bangladeshi expatriates is increasing gradually due to the move to send the government skilled manpower abroad.
He said the process of sending money to the country was easier than before. In this case, all types of assistance are being provided to banks and exchange houses. Besides, now mobile financial services can easily be sent through the country.
Deputy governor said the reduction in remittances in the first few months of last year due to the trend of reducing the rate of currency and oil prices against the dollar and sending money to the country through an extra-judicial process. After taking necessary steps to send the remittance to the legal process, expatriates feel more comfortable sending money through legitimate means.
Razi Hassan said that some mobile banking operators are under surveillance as part of a step to stop remittance from illegal bank accounts. Some mobile accounts have been identified in this. Which was used to send remittance through illegal process.
According to the Bangladesh Bank, the expatriates sent 562.62 billion dollars remittance in the first 6 months of the current fiscal year 2017-2018.
In addition, in the year 2016-2017, 1010.99 billion dollars, 2015-16 1168.57 billion, 2014-15 1189.93 billion, 2013-14 to 1105.84 billion, 2012-13 1156.47 billion, 2011-12 1018.8 billion billion , 2010-11 829.91 billion, 2009-10 760.11 billion and in 2008-2009 fiscal year 666.77 billion dollars remittance.
Expatriates in the fiscal year 2007-08 542.96 billion, 2006-2007 413.01 billion, 2005-06 322.76 billion, 2004-05 236.48 billion, 2003-04 198.70 billion, 2002-03 177.29 billion, 2001-02 sent $ 143.77 billion, 2000-01 to 101.70 billion, 1999-2000 98.07 billion, 1998-99 81.98 billion and in 1997-98 fiscal year 69.35 billion remittances.
