Prayer of Jesus for his disciples: All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. John 17:10
During the Last Supper, his last moments in the world, Jesus prayed to the Father for his beloved disciples. Jesus knew that that he was going to die crucified and his disciples were going to remain like sheep without a shepherd.
In his prayer Jesus highlighted that perfect love (Agape), the love projected towards the whole creation of God, that translates into the spiritual communion, the union of minds and hearts. Because in the communion, the life in common, there are no concealment strategies that come from human selfishness, but rather "everything belongs to everyone."
In this prayer, Jesus also taught the terrible opposition between the forces of the flesh and the spiritual forces, and that in short, whoever loves the things of the world, such as money or honors, cannot love the only God with sincerity. The flesh and the spirit are choices of the mind that lead man on paths completely opposite to each other, righteousness ("Do to others what you would have them do to you" Matthew 7:12) and sin are before the reason of man, that is why Lord Jesus prayed with determination for his disciples so after his death they would not be tempted by sin but rather enlightened by the holy spirit and his spiritual gift, as happened at Pentecost.
With these words Jesus prayed, so that the divine assistance of the Holy Spirit would be fulfilled in his disciples:
"I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, an I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one." John 17:9-11.
