Keep your servant from presumptuous acts (Psalm 19:13).

What the Bible calls "presumptuous acts" are insolent acts. It means doing something hastily and daringly, without having the authority to do it. Because of inherited sin, we all act like this sometimes. But the example of King Saul shows that, if we adopt the habit of behaving in this way, sooner or later our friendship with God will be harmed. Psalm 119: 21 says that Jehovah rebukes the "presumptuous." Why? "Presumptuous acts" or insolent acts are not simple mistakes. Why do we say it? First, because if we do not act modestly, we stop honoring Jehovah, our legitimate Sovereign. Second, because if we go beyond the limits of our authority, we are likely to have conflicts with others (Proverbs 13:10). And third, because we can feel ashamed or even humiliated when we see that we have been immodest (Luke 14: 8, 9). Acting like that does not bring good results. As the Bible indicates, showing modesty is always the best.
