Impact on the Moon at 38,000 miles per hour

If you are like me astronomy holds a fascination because it is so visual. I saw this and thought I would share it with you. Observers studying impacts on the moon during the total eclipse of the moon on in January 2019 saw a flash as a meteorite hit the surface of the moon.

The Royal Astronomical Society publishes in their Monthly Notices April 27, 2019, a new analysis by Spanish astronomers below:

A new analysis by Spanish astronomers says the space rock collided with the moon at 38,000 miles per hour (61,000 km/hour) excavating a crater 33-50 feet (10-15 meters) across.

Can you imagine 38,000 miles per hour?

Keep your feet on the ground but be sure and look up at the stars.

One of these days I hope to make it to a star party.

I have never really keen on astrology but when I saw this title, it captures my attention like "what isit all about?"

I am amazed by this video as much as I always wonder about sky and rainbow and cloud. :)

haha! howdy rebeccabe! that's amazing for them to record it hitting. What exactly do you mean by "star party"?

When people camp out and look at the stars. Some have the equipment and everyone has a great time just looking at the stars.

That sounds wonderful, I guess I've never been with a bunch of star gazers!
