Difference between Power Up 100% and Default (50%/50%), what does it mean and which should you choose?steemCreated with Sketch.

When you submit a new post, you have the option to Power Up for 100% or choose to Power Up for 50% and put 50% into Steem.

Before understanding this article, make sure you know the differences between Steem, Steemit Dollars (SBD) and Power Up. Read this article to get a full explanation: https://steemit.com/steem/@adil/why-you-should-choose-power-up-100-instead-of-default-50-50-posts from @adil or https://steemit.com/steemit/@flurgx/discrepancy-about-steemit-authors-payout-question-need-your-help from @flurgx

Basically it is very simple.

  1. #Steem is a currency which can be easily traded on short term to actual fiat money or Bitcoins.
  2. #PowerUp is transferring your Steem to add more power to you as Steemit user, increasing your voting power, curating earnings and more.
  3. #SteemitDollars (SBD) are price stable currency with a value of $1 USD.

So, if you want to go long-term, I would always advice you to choose to PowerUp 100%. Otherwise, you'll get paid 50/50% and you'll have to manually transfer Steem into #SteemPower which will also take up 3,5 days.

EDIT: I stand corrected, thank you @flurgx & @cybercodetwins . It depends what you choose on the value of SBD to Steem. As long as the Steem price is above 1$, it is not recommended to Power Up 100%.

Another good thing to keep in mind:

The value of Steem can fluctuate, which means you can also choose to keep Steemit Dollars or Steemit depending on the current value and your expected future value (increase / decrease).

If anyone has a good advice which adds to this blog, please feel free to share, resteem and upvote.

PS. No, you cannot change 100% to 50/50% or the other way around when you have already submitted your post.

i do not recommend the 100% power up as long as the steem price is above 1$

Thanks you, I will edit the post.

thanks for the explaination , I have been asking myself multiple times , what the difference is :) If I would have known that earlyer I would have set all my posts to 100% , is it possible to change this after the post is already created ?

I just edited the post because I have been searching for this myself too. Its in the footer now. But no, unfortunately it's not possible.

thanks for your help :) this will save me a lot of time in future

Half/half because SBD can be worth as much as a steem. so you be getting it for a good deal.

Thanks for your advice, can you elaborate a bit into this? I will edit/update the post so that everyone will get the correct information.

I am willing to own up if I adviced someone incorrect :)

Thanks for this good info...
by the way search for the difference more..there was an article about proving that choosing 50/50 default payout worths more and you get about 37% more and you can then buy steem power whenever you want and that counts more..
he proved it with calculations via a spreadsheet I think it was for this profile: @jerrybanfield

This definitely helped out. Thank you.
