Man vs. Wild
Lynde Shores Conservation Area (Whitby, Ontario)
I took this photo a couple of summers ago at Lynde Shores Conservation Area in Whitby, Ontario. It's a 272 hectare tract that is very popular spot for locals to go and embrace the scenery and abundant amount of wildlife. The Lynde Creek Marsh and adjoining Cranberry Marsh are designated as Provincially Significant Wetlands, which are protected due to the diverse species of wildlife that call this place home. There are many different species of bird (which I cannot list off), chipmunks, squirrels, turkeys, deer, ducks, geese, and so on. You often see many scenes like the photo I shot, of young children approaching animals to feed them. Other than this one time, I had never seen a racoon here.
Lynde Shores is one conservation of many that are operated by the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority (CLOCA). I had a friend that worked for them one summer, and while performing duties at Lynde Shores, a woman came up and asked her, "What time every morning do you guys release the animals at?". I still laugh at that every time I remember it :)
