No, you're not stupid. Poloniex hasn't explained very well how to verify your account.

First of all make sure you use your full name as it says on your ID. So, if your ID says your first name is John B G then register that name in the verification process.

Furthermore, you need 3 things:

• piece of paper with POLONIEX and the current month, day, and year written on it.

• your ID card, passport, or driver license.

• a decent camera (recommended HD or better which is 1280 x 720 lines).

You need to take a picture of yourself holding an ID and the piece of paper with the date.

From the Poloniex FAQ it's pointed out that your shoulder, extended arm, and hand holding your ID should be visible. Personally, I only had my hand visible in the picture. And I had the cards above eachother instead of next to each other, which helped to increase the readability of my ID.

Also, you need to take a picture of the front of your ID, and, depending on your country, the back of your ID. I'd recommend uploading your driver's license, because it is safer to lose then your passport in case of hacks.
