SAY NO to PLASTIC & YES TO LIFE
In India The State Government of Maharashtra has taken a good initiative by banning the plastic bags throughout the state. It must be get banned throughout the whole Country and Whole World. Italy has become the first Country in Europe where Plastic has been fully banned. Let’s hope one day it will get banned in all over the world including in our Country. The situation in India is like this-
)Do you know According to an estimation, more than 500 BILLION plastic bags are being used on our planet every year & On an average every Indian generate half a kilo of plastic waste every year and only 5% of the plastic waste get recycled. Much of it is scattered on and around the litter stack and spread environmental pollution. Due to these plastic wastes, millions of animals & birds meet their end every year. Common people becoming prey of various diseases, the fertility of land being destroyed as well as the geological sources also get contaminated. plastic bags take 500 to 600 years to get dissolved. Plastic in itself is not poisonous or harmful but plastic bags are made up of colours, dyes & other inorganic chemicals. These chemicals come in contact with water or soil then it contaminate the water & pollute the soil. Some of the bright colours used in production of plastic bags are associated with the possibility of cause cancer. If the plastic bags are not disposed of properly then they make their way to drainage system, which in turn leads to blockage. In our locality the drainage pipes are get chocked very often & we just put the allegation to poor drainage system & the government, whereas more than 80% reasons of drainage chock is plastic thrown by us. We are the only responsible for such issues.
)This is not the only situation of India but the majority of the countries face the same problem.
**What are the Alternatives of Plastic bags**-
Plastic bags pose a grave danger to the environment. Jute, Cloth, Paper bags should be made popular and the Government should encourage by sufficient financial incentives to popularize their use. If we talk about the Indian policies, The Ministry of Environment and Forests released Recycled Plastics Manufacture and Usage Rules in 1999, which were amended in 2003 under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1968 in order to regulate and manage the plastic bags and other material properly. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has issued notification regarding important parameters for soil soluble plastic. Ideally, only earth-soluble plastic bags should be used.
Pollution due to plastic is dangerously increasing in all over the world. The plastic pollution reaches up to the seas & Oceans via the river basins and many aquatic creatures and sea birds are fleeing from their respective habitat to save themselves. In this battle of survival many species are facing extinction.
One day OUR EARTH will be like this
It’s in our hand, just avoid use of plastic as much as possible & dispose them properly. If we do so the half the battle can be won and the rest will be won by the safe waste management. I appeal that a Worldwide campaign is very much required to aware the dangerous threats caused by plastic to save the mankind and the other creatures of this planet & the Environment from the harmful effects of plastic. SO THIS IS THE PRIME NEED OF THIS HOUR.
