Rene Boucher charged with felony assault against Bowling Green neighbor Sen. Rand Paul
Rene Boucher, the 58-year-old Bowling Green man accused of attacking U.S. Sen. Rand Paul at his home in November, has been charged with assaulting a member of congress resulting in personal injury.
The charges – a federal felony – were announced Friday by Josh J. Minkler, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana.
“Assaulting a member of Congress is an offense we take very seriously,” Minkler said. “Those who choose to commit such an act will be held accountable.”
Minkler's statement notes that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven otherwise in court. Boucher could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Bradley P. Shepard.
I bet this guy wishes he could of done things a little differently that day. We've all dealt with shitty neighbors that do something to make your neighborhood or your property look bad. I'm not saying Rand was a shitty neighbor but this guy took it way to far and committed a serious crime by assaulting Rand instead of just talking to him about his brush pile.
Enjoy your time in prison dumbass.
I'm glad he's being charged with a federal felony rather than some B.S. state misdemeanor. If he's convicted, he will do some real time in prison and won't be let off the hook soon as he probably would be in a state prison. He committed a serious crime and needs to be held accountable for it. It appears to have been a politically motivated attack regardless of what he said after the fact.
Good!!! Throw the book at this asshole. Seriously, lock the guy up for a long time. He could have killed Rand Paul with what he did.
Plastic-looking motherfucker.
