Why Democratic Socialism Always Results in Fascism
Pretty simple: When you give the government the power to redistribute everything, inevitably, someone comes along and manages to redistribute everything to themselves and their cronies.
Here's a three-step plan on how it's worked historically for dictators:
- Promise to redistribute everything in exchange for votes. Don't worry, like any politician, you won't actually be keeping most of your promises.
- Since you'll face some resistance to redistribution, use that as an excuse to consolidate more power - ironically, from the people themselves. Again, don't worry, you won't actually keep most of your promises.
- Once you have enough power, redistribute everything to yourself and your cronies.
The ironic catch with this plan is that it requires the people to give you the power to redistribute their stuff away from them. But past dictators have figured that one out too: just tell the people they are under attack from a powerful force - usually folks with lots of resources.
