I like this column very much and think it is true. When the first BS about Iran came out, almost every one of the first 25 most recommended readers comments in the NY Times of all places said it was BS and some related it to the Gulf of Tonkin! So that much it is true that Americans usually have to be fooled into wars. In the meantime, American exceptionalism blinds us to the reality of where we want to be heroes without first knowing what the facts are. We are also very very angry at the diseased system of economics which runs our country and too ready to look to strike out at some bad guy.
A very great thinker said that America could help the rest of the world be better but we also needed to get rid of interferences like NATO.
