China’s trademark and patent status in the world

The chinsese applications for trademarks have reached 2.8 million in 2015. Four time more than the number of 2008. The State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) mentions that China is leading in the trademark applications since 2002.

With more that 19.1 million trademark applications and a total of 10.7 million valid trademarks registered in China by March this year.

The patent operations registered in China by 2016 reached more tha 170,000, a 20% increase from last year, according to the Patent Information Annual Conference of China 2017.

Part of the patent operations are patent transfer, license and pledge.

Economy, trade, science and technology, and culture are the important and increasing domains that China is aproaching other states with, as (said during the conference) Shen Changyu, head of the State Intellectual Property Office.

Yoshiyuki Takagi, assistant director general of the World Intellectual Property Organization, mentioned that China has filled the most patent applications since the establishing of its IP in 1980.
