So which is it -- Massive unchecked immigration OR Universal Basic Income for ALL citizens... because you can't have both... because of... well... "math"

in #politics7 years ago

Has it not bothererd anybody else that when you read the news these days we are being fed all sorts of propaganda that makes no sense about these topics... First we are told that in order to save the planet, we in the west and developed countries need to stop having children. Then we are told that we need massive levels of immigration from third world countries so that when boomers are needing care there will be people around to take care of them. BUT at the same time we are being told "there is going to be a dire shortage of jobs" in the future due to technological innovation and automation.... thus requiring a Universal basic income. Does anybody other than me see that holding all these ideas... at once is massively self-contradictory? closeup.jpg

"It's just obvious you can't have free immigration and a welfare state" - Milton Friedman

The mass-immigration stance will destroy society as we know it.
No country can just absorb uncontrolled numbers of "immigrants" without surrendering its values and ideas.

In the 50's and 60's, when this really started, they were called "gastarbeiders" in Holland, meaning "guest workers". The idea was that they would work a couple of years, helping the country and at the same time saving money to buy a house in their home country and have a decent life their after returning.
Guess what, the returning never happened.

Let's call it what it is, the immigrants we keep seeing are predominantly muslim, without any idea about western society, or even worst, without any respect for our way of living.
Mos of them come not to escape from a war, but to better their lives, and at the same time they stick to their believes and expect the west to adopt to them.

By allowing this movement by our governments they are essentially preparing a civil war.

I'm sure UBI is the only thing that will allow people to be able to have a decent life in the future.

But we need to exclude those who only come to better themselves, and that will take a long time before that battle is over.

That is the most sensitive problem in our lives today.

Who can decide who is good or bad, with good intentions or not... The way we live our lives today is almost at a new break point.

All that chaos around us will lead to a change. Who knows what will be.
Media control all information and in the most part (90%) just drove people feelings into directions that big powerful people want.

So, with all that fear of not being sure where it is safe, to go from country to country to think it will be better without thinking at the consequences, to believe all that higher people say or just by ignoring completely what is happening, we'll end up with nothing good.

But, it is what it is and we must hope that we can find the new way of living.

As you said UBI it should be the new way. But to be there, the common people indoctrinated with old mentality can't make that change, well not all of them are prepared for that. The old mentality and school were to just learn to be an employee and that you can't do better than that. Do that till your end!

Huh. Good luck for us that good people like Elon Musk live today. And there are a lot of them, maybe unkown to us yet.

I read one article of Elon Musk here:
Elon Musk's support of universal basic income (UBI) will only just help big businesses stay big. — Quartz

That kind of people are the one we need. If we'll get more of them then we have a fair chance. If not... :-)

That's what I fear... the contradictions don't make sense... it's like there is a concentrated effort to destroy the cohesive nature of family at work here, in addition to what you've just suggested.

I'm afraid it does look like it, a deliberate restructuring of the current situation.

The EU is one of the best examples of this, more and more responsibility is taken away from governments and they're just allowing this.
