Behind Trump's intend to focus on the government security net
Trump and Republicans in Congress are quietly plotting the next phase of their agenda: Use the huge deficit increase caused by their tax cut for the wealthy to justify deep cuts to programs that middle-class and working families depend on. The administration already has proposed work requirements for Medicaid eligibility.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have their sights on Medicare and Social Security. You can bet that they will try to disguise these cuts under the umbrella of "welfare reform." Don't fall for it. You and I paid into these programs during our working lives. They're not welfare. But Ryan, McConnell, and Trump want to make the rich far richer, the poor more destitute, and everyone in between, more insecure. Your thoughts?
