It's perfectly legal and acceptable for powerful individuals to have a vastly greater influence on a purportedly democratic election than any of the ordinary individuals voting in it.

I'm a bit of an optimist and I'm convinced that eventually they'll have to do something about this. On my bad days, I think we're all fucked, and the little guys have no hope in hell. I have so many friends and family in the UK (I'm in Australia) totally crying into their pints over this one.
