The Students Representative Council, SRC, at its 7th business meeting held today, 3rd of March 2018, suspended the President of the union, Sir Newton; the treasurer, Banky, as well as executives of the union excluding the D.O. Sports, Psam, for varying lengths of days due to their transgression of the SRC's order. The President was suspended for 21 days with the Treasurer suspended for 7 days, the other executives were however suspended for 72 hours aside the Director of sports who was suspended at the time the executives transgressed. The house had earlier demanded at its last business meeting that the president pay back a sum of ₦90,000 within 7 working days, he however failed to do so as he only paid back the sum of ₦45,000, 13 days after the stipulated deadline had elapsed.
Consequently, the Ethics and Disciplinary Comitteee gave their take on the next line of action, their recommendation was amended and after thorough review, a motion was moved for the suspension of the said executives of the Student Union which was adopted by the house.
The thoughts of any member of the executive on their various suspensions remains to be heard and the reins of the union during their suspensions has been handed to the sole comrade left unsuspended, Psam.
