I assume that most people understand that they're gonna die someday.

Everybody eventually gets hit with the reality of getting older unless he or she has a severe mental illness.

So, I assume that anyone who thinks of him or herself as an (air quotes) progressive, is aware of these facts. They have to be aware that they will be old someday and dead someday, and that, if people know who they were a hundred years after they're dead, those future people will be looking at modern (air quote) progressives by their future standards of ethics.

The last thing that a progressive ever wants to be labeled as is a conservative.

But, time makes conservatives of us all eventually.

I've already expressed my dislike of the word "progressive" to describe anyone's worldview unless I'm using air quotes. If you describe yourself as progressive, you're already kinda a dickhole or a bonus hole. It's like calling yourself a polymath or a genius or the GOAT.

Still, if you're aware of the fact that times will keep changing after you're dead, and you're tearing down statues of Lincoln, I've gotta believe that you're an even greater narcissist than I had previously thought.

You've gotta want progress to stop with you.

If progress continues, you're gonna be a conservative in fifty years or so.
