Where Does It End? (Political/Celebrity rant)

I don't know about you, but at this point I think it's safe for me to say that this wave of extreme feminism we've been going through the past few years is slowly but surely ruining life for me.

You may think I'm over exaggerating. And, by gods, I wish I was. When I first heard of this whole 'SJW' business - around 2014 - it was just a dumb funny thing I saw online, happening mostly on the American side of things. But as the saying goes, when America sneezes, we get a cold. And so this wave of mass retardation has affected me too.

By now most of my teachers double as reg-left preachers. My classmates eat it all up and shit it out upon the rest of society. I can only imagine it'll get a heck of a lot worse when I get to college or university. And now it's becoming the norm, if not an expectation, for celebrities to join in on this burning mess of a bandwagon.

And so, ladies, gents, and non-binary individuals; the Actor Saga continues. I present to you a guy I once called on of my favourite actors - Richard Speight jr. This is a conversation I, thank goodness, did not see when it first appeared on Twitter, or else I'd still be over there arguing and getting accused of having 'internalized misogyny'. No, instead, these are screenshots that popped up on my Tumblr dashboard.

And in case you were wondering, yes, everyone reblogging it was defending and praising him.

The moment I read through these, I nearly felt my heart physically break. Whether these are views he always held, or just ones he started toting and believing as it's what his fanbase demands, it's still gut wrenching either way.

There is a lot to pick apart here, but the most important thing that it made me realize is - as a young woman, I am beyond sick of third wave feminism victimizing me just because of my gender.

Don't get me wrong. Of course there will always be sexist assholes who objectify us, disrespect us, underpay us, and generally just see us as a pair of ovaries and tits. But as a society, we've done the best we can to erase that from every day life. Society as a whole doesn't condone this behavior. It doesn't condone assholes. But assholes will always be there. And those of them that there are, women are more than capable to deal with. I can flip him off myself, I don't need you to do it for me. To quote Rich, buddy, "we can take it".

And same thing goes for rape and sexual assault. In the West, we have collectively agreed that it's wrong. The fact that it still does happen at this point is beyond us. We don't support or condone them. There will always be mentally sick people, and people with no morals. This isn't a problem with our society, but with individuals. We do not live in a rape culture.

As for the 'men in power' argument, Rich is comparing apples with oranges. Male actors getting objectified by female fans is every bit the same as male fans objectifying female actors. Is it sexist? Yes, to an extent. But if you sign up to do a 'public job' like acting, you have to know it's coming. People will judge what you look like, they will think about you in sexual terms. You sign up for that. Female actors should be able to put up with it every bit as much male actors do. If you're going to be against people having fantasies about celebrities, the least you could do is not make it a double standard.

But that's not what he says. He leaves the actor aspect out and goes straight to men in powerful positions and common, everyday women who 'just try to live and work'. What you're discussing there is affluence and power distribution in our society, a whole other issue - and a far more serious one, if you ask me.

In an odd twist of events, it is my turn to tell someone - they have internalized misandry. But then again, that's what modern day feminism is all about. Irony. In their quest for gender equality, they've wandered off to a path that leads them to a whole new level of sexism. Towards both men and women.

Instead of seeing that in the West their job is done, and turning towards countries ran by fundamentalist theocracies, they decide to team up with and stand in defense of the theologies those countries are using as an excuse for their sexism and bigotry.

Some claim to be anti-fascists while using fascistic methods to achieve whatever goals they claim to be after.

And so, another actor ruined. Another show. As well as, slowly but surely, my education. What will this malarkey target next? I'm afraid to get my answer.

In conclusion, I'll just say this - shame on you, Rich, for being completely accepting of sexism while pretending (or being mislead to think) that you're doing the exact opposite; for victimizing grown women; for acting as if women were like defenseless children; for sounding as if no man was innocent and no woman was guilty. And kudos to those few of his fans that actually had the guts to call out bullshit when they saw it.

Believe it or not, there comes a point where 'respect' crosses a line.
