RE: Dan Fishman for Auditor at the California Libertarian Convention
When you choose an auditor, you want someone who is actively looking for irregularities. When you choose an auditor, you can make sure the auditor has no prior relationship with the audit subject.
Why should we elect a Democrat to audit Democrat-administered government spending in Massachusetts? Why should we choose a Republican to audit the office of the governor of the Republic?
The auditor's office is too important to enable it to be appointed by the governor or by the legislature. Instead the task of choosing someone who will be free from political influence falls into the group of William Brandeis called "the most important office holder.
We must choose auditors who come to the office without debt to political parties or other politicians and who will run office tasks.
