Explosions reported at alleged Iranian militia base in northern Syria

A series of explosions of an unknown origin rocked northwestern Syria near the city of Hama, late Sunday night, Syrian media reported.

According to the Orient news outlet, which is affiliated with the Syrian rebels, the blasts occurred in a base belonging to the Syrian army’s 47th Brigade, which is being used by Iran-backed Shiite militias.

Iran has more than 80,000 fighters in Syria

Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations on Thursday presented an aerial photograph of an alleged Iranian base outside Damascus that he said Tehran was using to bring in and train tens of thousands of fighters for the militias it backs in Syria.

There are over 80,000 extremists from all over the Middle East who are members of Shia militias in Syria under Iranian control

Iran denies it was targeted in Syria strikes, claims no troops killed

Iran on Monday denied that any of its soldiers were killed in overnight strikes in Syria or that its bases had been targeted in the raids.
