Luke Harding, journalist and speaker at the UK Foreign affairs Committee session on Russian Corruption, stated (and I paraphrase) that not all Russian billionaires are corrupt and laundering their money in London. Many of them just like London, and are good visitors, et cetera. Then Luke went on to espouse the most obvious mental issue of the modern pseudo-liberal; Russia hating. His plan; to disallow the top 5000 Kremlin dignitaries, and all their children, from entering the UK. In defending the 'good' billionaires and distinguishing them from the 'oligarchs' that were admittedly welcomed into the UK financial world for their untapped wealth, Luke stated what he, and every academically stuffed but common sense lacking corporate shill believes. 'What is the point of having billions of dollars if one can't visit London, New York, Kosovo or Vienna?' This comes after his distinctly Trump-like statement that not all Russians are thieves and money-launderers. Nice of him. This internalized attitude, which is simple, open and shameless bigotry, is also naive and childish. I will not dismiss these places of the world, but no more will I dismiss all the other places of the world, or for a moment allow myself the belief that certain parts of the world are gifted to the financial elite. It is nonsense, and the type of sycophantic spouting that led to the lax regulations that allowed unregulated money to flow in to begin with. To blame the nefarious activity of the world's rich oligarchs on the few of them that happen to be Russian is silly and counterproductive to eradicating the issue of rooting out those who would flout the rules and regulations of civil society. The author of "Collusion: Secret Meetings, Dirty Money, and How Russia Helped Donald Trump Win", Mr. Harding, who was also denied entry into Russia temporarily around 2007, couldn't by chance have a chip on his shoulder against Russia? He obviously has a chip in his sense of human decency.
