Corruption in Africa: A problem that has come to stay
Just yesterday an anti-curruption committee meeting was held somewhere in Africa and to my greatest surprise, I found one of the most corrupt countries in the world giving pointson how to tackle corruption in Africa... Funny, isn't it?
We have a problem, we know how to solve that problem but we act as if the problem never existed.
On the other hand, everyday we watch the tv, listen to the radio, read in the newspapers and we see many people pointing accusing fingers at some top government officials as being corrupt.
Now take a closer look at it, those government officials where once like us, cursing and calling the government of their time "Corrupt", when the got into power, they also got corrupted by that same power.
We Africans see government offices as an avenue to enrich our pockets and because of this our poor ideology and mindset, pickup a man with good intentions to lead, within a few months he would have mixed with the crowd.
Another issue on ground is the menace of Bribery, bribery is on the rise everyday in Africa.
The funniest aspect of it all is that statistics has shown that the poorest countries in Africa have the highest rates of bribery.
