Government and morality

in #politics6 years ago

If you were obliged to decide between saving a child or an elder, who would you save?

My guess is that the majority would pick the child, based on the argument that he or she represents, somehow, the future.

This is a typical moral decision based on a moral dilemma.

But if you apply that logic to resource allocation by a government, things get trickier.

Should a government save a child sacrificing an elder by doing it? Would you morally support it?

What is the source of a government's morality? Does the answer suggest that only individual morality exists?

Great question. Only private morality can exist without creating logical loopholes. All other ideas necessarily break down. Your example is a pretty good one.
