Welcome to Steemit @jamesyork. You have certainly opened a can of worms! Many of the issues you raise are legitimate concerns - not just in the US, but in many countries in the world. I think the parallel rise in populism with, at the other end of the spectrum, the shift towards the right, are both very scary and destructive.
