Self-responsibility. You've hit the nail on the head there. Not only in our educational system, but self-responsibility everywhere. The police officer 'just doing his work' by shooting innocent people. Or shooting at all. The soldier in the JSF, pressing a button to drop a bomb. 'Just doing his work', he replied. Responsibility cannot be relayed to the state, or to anyone else. Only to yourself. Not even home schooling should be compulsory. No one should have anything to say about anyone else. Only that is freedom of choice.
The police officer just following Immoral, unjust orders, like enforcing immoral unjust laws. People following unlawful orders, period. Be the change you want to see in the world, live by example.
Which I do. Naturally. Following orders is no reason to put morals and ethics aside, and commit violence to protect opinions and threats written in law. The nazis "just followed orders", too.
"I don't make the laws" is equal to "I don't make the orders", in the end everything the Nazis did was legal, and they probably argued that exact same sentiment while doing it "I don't make the laws."
What you're saying here is that so long as it's legal you're free to kill?
Well look at cops, how many get anything more than a slap on the writ, because they were too busy getting home to their family, they are quite literally free to kill, because the law says that a perceived threat is a real threat, and because the judge will wink at them, and the da will pat them on the back "you had to do what you had to do" while the superiors nod in agreement, so keep the ranks filled up with those that make their IQ limits, because more fear of cops drives more freedom with the pen, until they are the equivalent of the nazis, except they are waiting on some kind of attack to round up all the Asians into internment camps, ran by the good ol' prison industrial complex with the CIA waiting for top pickings, chattel slavery, but don't worry it only happened one time.
