RE: Is localization and decentralization the answer?

in #politics7 years ago (edited)

I read an article in a Portland newspaper of a local inside the city being arrested for collecting rainwater in barrels in his back yard. Now that is ridiculous. On the other hand, another man named Gary Harrington constructed dams across channels of public water running across his property that collected 40 acre feet of water in Eagle Point, OR. He was also arrested for not obtaining water rights permits. That is the kind of thing that would affect people on the other side of the county/city/state/nation line. It would be harder to stop people from damming water and keeping it away from other people in a decentralized society. The U.S. has already been doing this exact thing to Mexico for decades. I would hate to see that kind of abuse pour to the local level.

This guy was a good one to interview, a conscious minded free-thinker that is anything but a yes man. He offered some great counterpoints and @adamkokesh was right there for the snap-back with no delay or fillers. Classic.
