RE: Towards a More Direct Democracy
I strongly believe that a much better form of democracy is indeed possible. I think it should be a mixture of:
- Delegative/Fluid Democracy (Anyone can delegate their vote to someone they trust (more knowledgeable) or vote directly)
- Meritocracy (Voting power is increased when citizen has demonstrated academic and practical competence in a subject)
Add to that a blockchain based identity network where citizens are verified by government but can cast votes anonymously, revealing only properties of their profiles that are required to vote or to calculate the voting coefficient.
The real problem is greed and those in power in the world not wanting to loose their position. So I think such changes should be first tried and demonstrated on city governance level and when successful one could start arguing on state level that such changes are necessary.
