First High Water, Now High Water Bills

When Will It End?

Ever since Harvey devastated the city of Houston residents here have been trying to pick up the pieces to slowly get back to their normal lives.
But some residents in the past flood areas are getting the shit end of the stick when it comes to the city of Houston helping these people rebuild their lives.
Whether it's the Houston cops giving out tickets two days after Harvey hit, implementing a nine percent tax increase on homeowners, or now residents that had flood waters enter their homes are receiving outrageous water bills.

Some homeowners are complaining that they are receiving three-hundred to a thousand dollars water bills, yet they haven't been home since the hurricane ended.

The Houston Public Works Department says a leak may have been caused by appliances jostling around in the flood waters that rushed into their homes.
But that's not stopping them from charging these poor people. Instead of asking for the full amount now they are being quite generous and only asking for the people to pay half.

To me this is just a slap in the face to all the victims that have had to literally spend their life savings or take out loans just to rebuild.
I understand that natural disasters happen and that you can prepare but doesn't always mean everything will be ok in the end. But the city of Houston says they care and want to help its citizens, but to me it looks like the total opposite.
Let's not even bring up the fact they could of had so many neighborhoods not take on any water if they stop giving out land to be developed like it's candy (but that's for another day)
These people are suffering and the only thing the Houston government is worried about is how can we make the most money possible after this disaster, even if it's not ethical.

As i write this article Sylvester Turner (The Mayor of Houston) has come out and said they are willing to.put a hold on the water bills for these residents until they can figure out what's causing all the problems.
Let's hope that it stays that way.

Until next time get schwifty,

That's just crazy ! Although we are experiencing a similar problem after Irma with electric bills. I have come to the conclusion that greed is the only language some people speak! Best of luck to you! 🐓🐓

It really seems that way, god forbid the local government acctually does something for the people.
We will just have to see in the next coming months how it all plays out. Hopefully that massive check the state gave us will do us some good here in Houston so the people do not have to suffer anymore than they already are.
Best of luck to you as well!
