Okay, so I was talking to Tuck one day, and mentioned to him, there are some great movie lines that would work quite well at a poker table; depending on the scenario, of course.
Here Are My 4
- 300 "Give them nothing, but take from them everything!"
Imagine giving yourself this pep talk aloud at a poker table before you sit down. Give it a try, and strike fear in the hearts of your opponents. Oh, and let me know how it goes.
- Apollo 13 "Houston, we have a problem."
Really this line can be used anytime you find yourself in a poker bind. Shit, the way I play, I could use this line once every hour. I wonder if Houston could help me with my shitty poker skills?! Hmmm...
- Godfather Part III "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in."
So you may wonder how can this be used at a poker table? Let me tell you. Think of a scenario where you've been playing 1/2 NL cash game at the Taj all night. You're up 3 stacks of high society, and as you are about to get up, and walk away, the dealer deals you another hand. You look down and you see pocket KK. I don't have to tell you what happens next. Just think of the line from Godfather III, and use it appropriately.
- Pulp Fiction "They call it a Royale' with cheese."
Quite possible the best movie ever made, and an amazing opening scene with Sam Jackson, and John T. Now you certainly won't be able to use this line often, but when you do, oh it will be glorious. Here is the scenario, you're playing a high limit cash game at The Bellagio, with Amarillo Slim on your right, and Doyle Brunson on your left...you are in a three way hand worth massive amounts of cash, and you just happen to flop a royal flush. When the cards are turned over, you are shipped the $100K and you get the high hand reward of $500 - If this ever happens to you, remember to shout - "They call it a Royale' with cheese."
