RE: 💵 Steemit Poker League Update - June 18th 💵
Just a question more then a concern, I don't gamble
But how is this application ran and who oversees that no fool play is happening. There have been to many issues in the past where poker software and applications were deemed fraudulent. Ie. Card peaking software and collusion on tables were major issues that poker sites had and some continue to experience.
Thanks for any and all info,
Cheers.
Poker is not gambling, it's a game of strategy.
No one is risking money.
The guys running Bluff Ave. wrote the software. It is not open source afaik.
I doubt anyone would bother to make "card peaking software" for the Bluff Ave. site. I don't see it being worth anyone's time, considering it's a poker site that has no money involved.
There's absolutely no way for us to know if someone's cheating, but it's highly unlikely they're doing it via some software on this obscure poker website, that only uses play money, no one's used since 2015 it appears.
Collusion is our biggest concern and multiple accounts. And to be honest, it's going to be hard to catch people, just like it is on the big poker sites.
Right now, our only countermeasure is to attempt to verify that everyone is a verified individual on Steemit, that have a reputation to maintain to continue on Steemit, so there is little incentive to ruin that by cheating at a community poker game with very little money involved.
If we see an account that has no introduction post & a low reputation they will be removed from The League, as we have already done and will continue to do.
Someone cheating at this poker game is basically no different than someone lying about needing money on Steemit or plagiarizing articles and receiving donations and/or upvotes ... and I've seen a lot of that going on.
It's hard to catch no matter how or where it happens. All we can do is our best to try to stop it from happening in the first place by carefully selecting who is allowed in The League and identifying those we missed and fixing that asap.
These are good replies. I may be able to help review play for unusual patterns if we have hand replays or histories. I have some experience in this matter.
Looking forward to signing up.
Thanks, be sure to put your @steemit username in your "Tagline" on the profile page at Bluff Ave prior to requesting to join.
Thanks so much for the reply.
Trust me I know a thing or two about poker and yes you're very right. Poker is a great complex game of strategy, but don't be fooled. Part of being a great poker player is understanding that in any game of odds you must gamble to win. I'm sure we don't have to get into that and that you're very likely up to speed on how or when the odds are in your favor.
Great to see that your site is free roll and more on the friendly-competition side of things. From there, like you said it's all about honesty and transparency. Cheaters will be shamed out and honest people hopefully succeed hopefully that's what the future brings.
Cheers.
That is the reason i play. I love prediction and odds making. This looks like a fun setup. Sign up, its no different then any other contests on here expect that it is a good experience for your mind. Because this site doesn't allow cash deposits it should be safe for people with addictive personalities as well.
I might have to give it a shot.
See you on the tables maybe : )
even though i lost very fast today, it was fun and a fun group of people. Thx to @tuck-fheman
