If lonely were a taste
It would be like salt air
Exhaled by the ocean,
Subtle and pervasive

Redolent of bottomless depths
With undertones of timelessness
One need only breathe
To taste it

And be set adrift, far out to sea
Where a becalmed heart
Yearns for a freshening breeze
To carry it home
